Halloween Walk Event

Come and discover spooky tales and traditional folklore of the old “corpse road” from Wasdale to Eskdale above Boot village, taking in the ancient trackways of Eskdale Moor as featured in “The Corpse Roads of Cumbria written by Alan Cleaver and Lesley Park. They have a lovely way of sharing stories of these hidden places set amongst the backdrop of one of the most beautiful valleys of the Lake District.

This upland walk of 5-7 miles will take around 5 hours (including a 1/2 hour lunch break) followed by a memorable visit to Eskdale Mill, a historic visitor attraction on the site of a working water cornmill with grounds.

Booking is essential as there are limited places.

  • This is a family friendly event and well behaved dogs are also welcome.
  • Please arrive at Eskdale Mill for registration by 9.45am. The walk will start at 10am prompt.
  • Toilet facilities are available at Eskdale Mill.
  • Car parking is available at Dalegarth station
  • Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for wet/cool weather and uneven, stoney and boggy ground.
  • You will require a reasonable level of fitness.
  • Bring your own refreshments.

Free entry onto walk. 40 places available – spaces are limited to 5 persons per group.

Mill admission is £2.50 child, £5.00 adult & £12.50 family (2 ad, 3 ch)
