Our 2026 events listing:

• Willow Weaving with Helen Elvin from Elvin Crafts, Thurs 23rd April – make yourself a rustic plant stand (£50)
• Family Fun Day at the Mill – in celebration of our historic watermill and unique heritage of Eskdale. Sunday 24th May, 11am-3.30pm. Folk music, nature trail, creative activities and picnic in the meadow. No booking is required, just turn up! Accompanied children go free, £7 per adult – pay at mill reception.
• Identify meadow grasses and flowers with Rob Dixon from Wild Lakeland, Mon 25th May (£26 +booking fee)

• Open Day for Locals –  Join in and celebrate our magical watermill for the day! Visit the mill, grounds and gardens. Bring a picnic. Sunday 12th July, 10.30-4.30. Free admission for all west Cumbrian residents. Booking isn’t required.
• Scything training with Steve from Steve Tomlin Crafts, Thursday 17th September (£110 +booking fee, includes expert tuition and refreshments) Join Steve Tomlin and a small team of other trainee “scythers” and get hands-on experience of the traditional skill of cutting grass and vegetation. Learn the various techniques involved in using a scythe and achieving a satisfying ‘cut’! Pay here

• “Where Steam Meets Waterpower Heritage Tour” – Join Ravenglass Museum and Eskdale Mill for a day of steam trains and waterpower. Find out more about the industrial heritage of Eskdale! Led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides, you’ll be taken on a tour of Ravenglass Museum, enjoy a 7 mile scenic return ride on a historic steam train and shown around Boot village and Eskdale Mill, the last working watermill in the Lake District.  Sunday 20th September 10am-3.40pm. Booking is essential to secure your place unless otherwise stated.

For mill workshops, you can email Kate for card payments over the phone, pay directly at reception or make your online payment above.

All workshop charges include materials, refreshments and admission into the mill.

Tools and equipment are provided, when needed.

Beginners are welcome.

Due to the type of practical workshop activities, spaces are limited.

Toilet facilities are available at the mill.

There are no parking facilities at the mill or in Boot village. Parking for the village is available at Dalegarth Station, a 10 minutes scenic walk away.

All disabled users are encouraged to arrange parking in the village beforehand with Kate the Mill Manager
