Eskdale Mill & Heritage Trust is a small heritage organisation based in rural Eskdale in west Cumbria and has been registered as a charity since 2006. It seeks to raise awareness of the local environment, geography and heritage in the context of Eskdale Mill as a Grade 2* listed complex being of particular historical and architectural interest. This is done by ensuring the preservation and development of the mill’s facilities for public enjoyment thereby engaging people both from the local community and those visiting the scenic Eskdale valley and advancing public knowledge of the built and natural environment within the Lakeland landscape.

Eskdale Mill & Heritage Trust owns the water powered cornmill and grounds, that date back to at least 1547. Eskdale Mill is the last remaining working watermill in the Lake District. It boasts two restored working waterwheels complete with milling machinery plus a newly installed hydro power wheel making the mill a unique place for people to come and visit. With mediaeval origins, the visitor attraction provides insights into a way of life now long gone and transports people back in time.

Its members and supporters provide a vital lifeline to the mill’s day-to-day operations and ensure it can remain open to the public as a cultural centre and provide a place for learning and enjoyment. Our work includes keeping our buildings, grounds and mill machinery maintained, keeping our visitor centre open to the public and providing opportunities for a range of community groups and volunteers to gain valuable experiences.

Your donation will be well received and will help to safeguard the mill’s future for years to come.
